Providers Clinical Support Systems (CSS) MAT Waiver Training

The PCSS Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder Course covers all treatments and medications for opioid use disorder. The
training is designed for providers who plan to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in office-based treatment of
opioid use disorders. This training is educational and informational for all treatment team members. Information regarding the management of patients with multi SUD diagnoses and other special topics will be discussed.

  • Screen and identify patients with OUD and define evidencebased treatments.
  •  Discuss the pharmacology of opioids as it relates to treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) patients.
  • Describe the fundamentals of office-based opioid treatment including the treatment of the co-morbid patient.
  • Explain the process of buprenorphine induction as well as stabilization and maintenance.
  • Discuss all FDA approved antagonist and agonist medications to treat OUD.
  • Discuss basic office protocols including medical record documentation and confidentiality.
  • Utilize evidence-based resources to ensure providers have the confidence to prescribe buprenorphine for patients with OUD.
  • Recognize the importance of obtaining a waiver to begin treating patients with OUD.

The American Society Of Addication Medicine (ASAM) Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine (FOAM) 

The ASAM Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine is an innovative, case-based workshop appropriate for any and all staff who are a part of behavioral health team that see patients at risk for or with substance use disorders (SUDs). Participants will learn more about addiction medicine and how to screen, diagnose, treat, and/or refer patients with addiction. This live virtual workshop is designed to be energetic and interactive. Sessions throughout the series will include lecture, demonstration of skills and skill building.

THE ASAM FUNDAMENTALS OF ADDICTION MEDICINE (FOAM) TRAINING  is 4-days, two to three hours each day. The ASAM Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine is an innovative, case-based workshop designed for providers new to the field of addiction medicine in settings such as primary care, emergency care, and behavioral health, who see patients at risk for or with substance use disorders (SUDs). Participants will learn more about addiction medicine and how to screen, diagnose, treat, and/or refer patients with addiction. This live virtual workshop is designed to be energetic and interactive. Sessions throughout the series will include lecture, demonstration of skills and skill building.  

Day 1:  August 19th 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm 

Day 2:  August 20th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Day 3:  Augugst 26th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Day 4:  August 27th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
